Area is the amount of surface that the figure covers. Area is measured in square units.

For example, square centimeters are written like this: sq. cm. or cm squared.

So when we write the Area of a shape or figure, we will include the units, cm squared.

An easy way to tell the difference between perimeter and area is to remember this:
